Name: Ana Mendez
Graduation: Spring 2018
I am really excited and anxious for my role as president for this academic school year. I have been with LBSA for three years and I am honored to have earned the opportunity to lead our team. I am a fifth year full-time student at Cal Poly Pomona with a Business Administration major focusing on International Business and an Apparel Merchandising minor. I still have some work left for my degree, but the closer I get the better it feels.
Besides occupying my time with studies and LBSA I also work full-time as a staff manager for Active Ride Shop in West Covina. I have been with this shop since before we opened in July of 2015. This job has allowed me to network in the industry I want to start my career in and has also allowed me to gain experience in sales, product merchandising, customer relations, and leadership. I was born and raised in East Oakland, California and I am the first in my family to attend a university. I moved to Pomona to begin my college career at Cal Poly Pomona in the fall of 2012. LBSA allowed me to gain a family in my new home. This organization and it’s amazing opportunities have prepared me for the professional world and has given me the tools necessary to aid our success this year.
Goals for LBSA this year
1. To maximize our member recruitment by reaching a total of 100 members by the end of the year.
2. Help our members gain skills in the many software programs professionals use in their everyday work life.
3. Prepare and aid our executive board in becoming some of the best leaders in all of LBSA.
4. Aspire the students of Cal Poly Pomona to take their own lead and fulfill their college experience potential.
“Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence.”
